SO CLOSE AND SO FAR

We live in a country that waste happiness, tradition, and above everything... ART. Who doesn't know the "Jarabe Tapatio" and connect it directly to Mexico? Who knows the famous Catrina (originally La Calavera Garbancera)? Or the famous Diego Rivera? I dare to stay that our culture is unique and picturesque; it is worthy worldwide admired and which I feel very proud of.
We know well Spaniards transmitted us artistic and cultural elements which mixed with our culture, but the art represents us existed long before Hispanics arrived in America. A cool and magnificent example of this is the Mayan culture which established mainly on the "peninsula de Yucatán" (Yucatan, Campeche, and Quintana Roo) but also in Tabasco and Chiapas.

As legacy they left us the beautiful pyramids. In Q. Roo we can find: Coba, Tulum, Dzimbanche and Kohunlich. Some of them are sorrounded by white beaches and blue water such as Tulum or Coba with a wonderful cenote, which was used for religious rituals. They weren't important just for the architecture; they also made painting, sculpture and engraving stone.

Quintana Roo is a younger state, but it doesn't mean there is no culture, now days we have regional dances and typical costume, did you know? We are sol lucky to be so close of these wonderful things, but we don't take the time to know more about them, to be close to our culture and be one with our cosumes It is worth the time to spend a weekend to meet them and see all we have been missing (if we've not gone there before), in this way we can teach to the youngest people at home an identity sense and love our ethnical origin, to care and respect them.
